What's with asking for my email address?
During the survey you will be asked to provide some sensitive information (such as rates and yearly income) as well as an email address. This is entirely optional and will be used for the following purposes:
- We will send full detailed results of the survey when it's complete to this email address. There will also be an abridged highlights up on FreelanceSwitch itself, however non-respondents will not receive the complete set of information, this is reserved for people who take the time to fill out the survey
- If your name comes up for the random prize draw, we need to have a way to contact you
... and that's all it will be used for. We will NEVER disclose your email address, nor will we in any way publish or use that information for anything other than the two purposes listed above (namely to contact you about the survey and if you win the prize).
If you feel at all uncomfortable we urge you to use a free mail service such as hotmail or gmail to protect your privacy but maintain a way for us to contact you, or to simply ignore the email question (though obviously you will be ineligible for the two benefits mentioned above).
Thank you for your understanding on this issue, we debated long and hard on whether to ask for email addresses, but the consensus is there is no other way to work it.
