International Freelancers Day: A Free Online Conference for Freelancers
There’s a very exciting online event happening in a few weeks. It’s the first-ever International Freelancers Day, to be held on September 24 and 25.
This two-day virtual event is the biggest-ever FREE online-video conference exclusively for solo professionals. It’s part of a global initiative to celebrate independent workers everywhere and the tremendous impact they have on the economy.
The conference will feature an all-star cast of 25 high-profile speakers, including bestselling authors and industry thought leaders such as David Meerman Scott, Brian Clark, Anne Handley, Mari Smith, Liz Strauss, Scott Stratten, Jonathan Fields, Dan Schawbel and many others!
The celebration couldn’t come at a better time. As more professionals continue to shift to self-employment, they’re seeking better ways to thrive in the new freelance economy. International Freelancers Day will provide aspiring, new and seasoned solo professionals with the ideas, strategies and inspiration they need to take their “business of one” to the next level of success.
Best part? It’s completely FREE. No catch. No hidden fees. No “OK-now-you-have-to-pay-to-watch-the-rest” gimmicks. You simply have to register, which takes all of 4 seconds. To register, or to learn more, visit the International Freelancers Day link above.
And while you’re there, check out the cool 1-minute video trailer on that page!

Count me in.
This is brilliant! I’m sharing this with my local colleagues. This is the best news I’ve heard in a while
Thanks for sharing
It’s really a good news for all freelancer, specially me, that we also get a celebration day. Thanks a lot to “international freelancers day” team who gives us special days of the year.
I have mixed feelings about this event. While I think it’s a great idea, and I have no doubt the speakers will have great stuff to learn from. (I recognize a lot of the names, great people, great success)
I’m just not able to wrap my head around the idea of it being a “Freelance Event” the majority of the speakers are online marketers. Yes, I believe marketing online is crucial, and I can certainly see benefit there, but when I think about stuff to help my freelance business I want to hear and learn from people who are already doing what I’m doing but are more successful. I need to learn from people who have already made it past the hurdles I face as a new freelancer, people with experience in freelancing, not Internet marketers.
Jut thought I would comment on that, otherwise it looks like a great line up for online marketing.
… Scott
Hey Scott – Thanks for your feedback, man. I appreciate it. I hear where you’re coming from. But I can tell you that 16 of the speakers are either independent consultants or freelancers (8 freelancers and 8 consultants). The balance are mostly authors, not internet marketers.
We purposely wanted to have a mix of freelancers and authors and industry experts. Totally understand the value of having successful freelancers there. That’s why more than 50% of the speakers are in that category.
Also, keep in mind that it’s totally free. And you can attend only the sessions that interest you.
Hope you can make it!
Sounds very interesting. Would be great to celebrate the Freelancer community and get some great tips.
I will sure try to attend though I have a day job and the event starts on a Friday (3 PM local time). It’s a good thing you can download the presentations later on. I will try to attend live on the weekend.
I agree with Scott. I think it would be better to have also some speakers who are proven successful freelancers who could teach how to make the transition from a steady income job.
Hi Miguel – See my response to Scott above. More than 50% of the speakers are either successful freelancers or consultants. Most of the others are authors, not internet marketers.
I tweeted this to all my contacts in Florence so expect a strong Italian showing!!

Thanks for putting this together; looking forward to it.
Best of success for this and all future events!
Tar and feather??? Forget THAT! Freelancers rule!
Thank you SO MUCH, everyone, for your great comments and support! Hope all of you can make the sessions that interest you. And feel free to spread the word to your colleagues!
This is going to be BIG! We’re announcing some big news next week regarding the event!
am really excited about this event…i have already started tweeting and informing all my friend..something like this i wished a long time ago
Genius! I thought no one will ever come up with something like this. I’ll spread the word then and hey, see you all! Oh, and thanks for sharing this news.
This is a welcome event for freelancers around the world. I have written a post about it, linking it to all the social profiles and where to register. I see local freelancers have picked it and a few have registered
@Ed Gandia I think we should consider making the day – September 24th or 25th – a permanent feature where freelancers locally and internationally can come together, share and learn from each. Anyone with me?
Looking forward to the event.
@Ed Gandia Why don’t we mark the day – September 24th or 25th – as a permanent event in the years to come. This will help bring freelancers both locally and internationally to share, learn and network.
You bet! That’s the plan — to make this into an annual event where freelancers can learn, network and share.
Truly appreciate the excitement, everyone. As we continue to move to a “gig economy,” we freelancers NEED this day.
More news on that front coming soon. Stay tuned!
I’m totally down for Freelance Day!! As long as I can do it in my pajamas.
