I personally have developed a filing system in several categories for each of the filing boxes... 1. to-do lists and the required info for completing them, 2. contacts and bios of everyone I'd ever want to contact (which I will eventually migrate from my papers to my google addressbook and to alphabetized filing cards), 3. important papers for the books and receipts, with any registrations in any respect that are on paper, 4. my projects and all their papers for them, 5. my novel notes that I want to incorporate into future written work with the novel or elsewhere, 6. copies of publications that I have been published in, have edited or published, or have a feature of some sort in, 7. extra copies of publications I have worked on and other portfolio work, 8. class notes from the classes I've taken that might still prove useful for reference in web or graphic design or music, and, lastly, 9. the keepsakes that don't fit into any of these other categories that I do not wish to discard. I only recently have started to get this organized! Hurry for new years resolutions!

I recently started systematizing my pricing by producing a PDF of 'website packages' that could be customized. I also wrote up a list of typical customizations and ongoing maintenance and management packages.

Doing this meant that I now had _product_ to sell.. and I've found it infinitely easier to sell websites - and related services - when I think of them in this way.

Great article. It is great to see it presented in a clear, to the point manner. That way you cover all angles and move on. I thank you and keep it up, I'll update my results with using your suggestions.

Enjoy.

Pricing is what I dread the most. I want to make some good money, but I want a satisfied customer also. Finding the sweet spot in the middle is always a challenge. Maybe these tips can help me come up with a system.

I find it is also a good idea to keep track of how much you charge individual clients. If a client is one that takes a lot of explaining and time on the phone, I will charge a bit more. They expect the extra charge, but if I try to charge a long time customer extra just because I am not keeping track of my past transaction, it is always meet with a negative response.
