Well I manage multi-project at every given time, though I do not have to manage them at a more detailed level, i need to know what new projects have started, ensure all the necessary information to trigger the next series of actions have been provided. Keep and eye on the projects while they are active, track the project health, consolidate information from each projects (timesheet, progress reports)and distribute to relevant department, ensure project are invoiced properly.
After project is completed, i need to conduct reviews on the projects, ensure the resources (consultants) are being contacted for other possible projects.

So what i need is a way to consolidate all the different stages for all projects, that way i can literarily see a clear progress of all the active projects.
Yes, it is a tall order and sometimes i do get bogged down and feel over whelmed but so far so good, the only thing i that helps is i love my job. I am sure there are other ways to do keep on top of things and i am always opened to suggestions.

I found that dealing with multiple large scale projects at the same time wears me out really fast and I need some time to cool down afterwards. However, taking on one large scale project and some smaller ones seems to work fine for me. I can concentrate on the big picture, working on the most important one, then cool down on some small tasks.

The most important piece of advice here is taking short breaks between switching from project to project. These breaks should be something to help you relax, and this might not include rss reading or emailing.

A short walk, even a few minutes on the sofa with a hot cup of tee, if that's your preference, is enough to get you ready for more work.

I think you hit on the most important point last. Finishing a project can be the most fulfilling thing. It gives you the sense of wholeness that will entice you to start another project. Clients respect your ability to take something from beginning to end, and just remember if a client thinks you are done then you have done a good job. ...an unsatisfied client will continue to complain that you still are not done yet....
