It is right. Clients sometimes do need a reminder of how much work actually goes into our work. I think it was Von Glitschka who talked about it, also I would break it down even more and explain this.
As you said, they would be shocked at the level of input from our side and thus appreciate us more.
Great podcast!.
This site is really something.
I’m agreed with all the point that you guys talked about, it’s interesting to know that some ideas or methods that i use are similar or the same used by other professionals and artist in the world.
By the way, i have to add an idea, something that give nice results is to offer to my clients to pay the project with montly fees, this way the client make there projects now, we don’t have to low are prices and give to our clients a image of professionalism and care about them.
Again, great podcast, and dont make me start about the blog!.
Sorry for my english, it’s a lot rusty!. I’m from Caracas, Venezuela.
A real cool podcast…though many of the ways I already implement but it was great learning a lot more…
adios
Thanks for listening!
Cesar,
I think in todays economic environment you’ll see more and more work arrangements like that.
It’s neat to know our podcast is reaching out to Caracas! Cool.
Von
Actually, Vonster, i’m a loyal reader and listener of FreelanceSwitch.
It help me in my transition to be come a freelancer, and it’s help me now more then ever.
Congrats for so great work.
I should really start taking notes when I listen to this show.
Excellent podcast guys, lady, I love the method use by Kristen when approaching a client “that sucks i can do it better” I am using that technique and for the moment is coming some clients so I agree with you.
Keep the good shows coming.
Angela, I listen to podcasts at work and I do take notes on a growing word document of the little gems I learn on this show. If I didn’t they’d fly out my other ear.
Good podcast thank you.
John, I just needed to let you know:
You thought you excluded so many people (PC users, non-Twitter users) with your recommendations, but forgot one group: Tweetie only works with Leopard. I have 10.4
. See, this is yet another reminder that I seriously need to upgrade my set up.
And I was happy that Kristen mentioned Goodreads.com. I was beginning to think that no one outside of the world of my librarian wife used it.
Great podcast once again people! Also, quotesondesign.com is by Chris Coyier!
Love to hear your podcasts, but there must be something wrong with them. The last one was 13 minutes long and was cut in the middle of a sentence. :/
Experienced that with quite a few of the podcasts from your website.
Or is there some subscription deal where you get the whole thing?
Hmm – no subscription necessary Trond. Where are you grabbing them from?
The RSS-feed. It comes down as a 12mb file that only lasts 13 minutes – at least on the ipod.
I’m running linux and gets the file with the banshee ipod organizer.
Trond: sorry to hear that! Have to tried listening to it from the site (to verify that the entire audio is there)?
Hi Dickie,
Thanks for the tips. I’ll give that a try and compare.
I have a feeling that there is something wrong with the metainformation somewhere. Because I belive when I listen to it in Banshee, I can listen to the whole show.
When I listen to it on the ipod, it stops after 13.21… When I look at the information in the file, it says that it is only 13.21 minutes long… Something is wrong.
Thanks for following up and keep up the good work with the podcast!

Dickie,
I could listen to the whole show on your website. I have also checked if it is possible to listen to the whole thing in Banshee – and yes I can, but not in the iPod.
It could definitely be a bug in Banshee, but I have only experienced this in podcasts from you.
Keep up the good work. Great show
