I still don’t understand how you get work without applying to at least 30 jobs a week…
And after listening to the whole thing on finding web design work but not being coders, my mind is TOTALLY blown.
Hello,
Be. stands for Belgium in Europe
Thats for Von Glitschka recommendation on http://demonsters.be
Yeah, in Europe we also listen to Freelance radio podcast
Belgium is a mixture of French, English and Dutch, thats whay it is so difficult to guess in what language is this website hahaha.
Greetings from Poland.
FreelanceSwitch RULES
Ps. Sory for my spelling, google translator is not yet perfect tool
DeMonsters.be is a belgian website.
Great podcast by the way, I’ve enjoyed it.
John,
I cant believe I’ve been listening to this podcast forever and never realized you are in providence! I’ve seen alot of good web type meet up things down there. I’m located in Boston and should probably check out things here!
Great advice – the market is getting very competitive as layoffs in our industry increase and companies close. Being quick at what you do, being a multi-tasker, and being able to manage clients is key for success as well as being talented. Its not easy so I don’t recommend freelancing for everyone.
And knowing people who can help you get your foot in the door is the way to get jobs. People running companies these days are so busy they get overwhelmed by resumes and refer to people they know. So networking yourself on and off the computer imperative.
Aetoric: A little clarification: I can code, but I prefer to design (and fix code).
Thanks to all for listening!
Thank you for sharing!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting another episode so soon, so good job guys! And a very good episode, if I may add
Just one thing – John’s recommendation has a bad link (http://www.gregmann.com/pages/flickrdown.htm – which ia actually domain for sale), the right one is this
http://www.greggman.com/pages/flickrdown.htm
“It’s kind of a strange URL” John said, and he was right
Hey guys,
In regards to the conversation about synchronizing photos, have you heard of http://posterous.com/ ?
I stumbled across it. Could be useful.
RE: FlickrDown – I found myself needing to download all my flickr pictures too recently and found Flickr Backup very handy. It’s java based and worked great under os x.
And yes, .be is the tld for Belgium!
Just to clarify, because it seemed that some of ya’ll didn’t know — the term *dynamic website* versus *static* really has nothing to do with whether or not it’s using Flash or animation at all. It really refers to how the data/content comes to the site. A dynamic site is one in which the content is coming from a database or other data source, whereas a static site’s content is hard-coded into the html of the pages. I think Von had it right, but John — no.
Looking forward to hearing more, this is my first. Been listening to Boagworld a lot so its funny to hear the American sence of humour this time.
