Ooo when submitting to digg i found this link too: http://www.freecareersearch.com/article/Top_Ten_Reasons_to_Quit_Your_Job.html
Not as funny as yours Jack, but nonetheless
The number one reason to not quit my job today is that i get paid by my boss while reading such funny posts. keep on rolling!
Funny
This one fits in as well:

Yea I totally agree it’s brilliant when you have work in! But days like i have been having recently where there is no work, nor sign or work on the horizon, makes me think that a job with a regular wage has it’s benefits! Any suggestions on getting work in for a new business on a stamped address envelope!
I totally agree with this article (where i’m gonna head to).
But… I have to say that there are something I’ve learnt working in the industry (web), that I don’t think I could of learnt freelancing. Hence why I think its important to work in the corporate environment for a while to get some basic knowledge of how a business is run and what clients expect from you…
Number 11 – you can hire your significant other as your part-time staff and avoid embarassing harassment lawsuits.
Number 12 – you won’t get canned for improper use of company email / web access.
Number 13 – you won’t get replaced by the boss’ son-in-law (like I did after
This is a good one:
Your boss asks you why your toilet breaks last so long
From my 4+ years of working experience I have been working in the office less than half a year. Three months after I started my job in the office I switched to part-time, and it was not enough, so I quit
There are almost infinite reasons to be a freelancer…I’m typing this under the shade of our patio umbrella in the garden, over a wireless connection to my home office, listening to a few tunes at the same time. I’ve just put the finishing touches to tomorrow’s blog entry, a half decent pinot grigio is on chill in the fridge, and I just sent in a half decent invoice too. I don’t want to sound smug, but I recommend being your own boss to anyone who’ll listen and certainly casual Friday is always underpants day!
Good read mate, I added this to my blog, pity I couldn’t find your trackback URL
peace

interestingly enough, i’ve been freelancing on the side for a while, but today is my first official full-time freelance day
i have no regrets
GO FREELANCE!
David, you know, that’s pretty cliché
No seriously, all these reasons are valid, and they’re all the reasons why I quit my job. My reason #11 was that my company did stuff I didn’t want to approve of. I wanted to make my own company politics.
@David
“I don’t want to sound smug…”
You crossed smug and headed straight to pompous with that line about the Pinot Grigio.
God gave us time on earth to live it for our self…not someone else’s profits. Its your time how do you want to live it?
Number 14. Because paying your bills is highly over-rated.
Number 15. You get to experience the pleasure of double taxation. First you get it the rear with Self Employment Tax, and then you get it in the face with income tax. Thank you ma’am, may I have another?
Number 16. You don’t mind having to answer your spouse’s question, “…and when, pray tell, are you getting paid?”
Number 17. Because getting paid regularly and consistently is over-rated.
Number 18. Financial drought? Think of it as a means of appreciating “less”.
11. Weather – you can work in the backyard when it’s sunny and not have to drive when it snows
12. Save a fortune on lunch money
13. tax benefits
I have to disagree with reason # 8. You have huge creative control as an employee. Granted, it’s not going to be in your job description and you will probably have to hide, but you can do things like these.
Number 10 cracks me up.
I agree!! I went freelance engineering nearly 1 year ago – its liberating!! Having complete control over your work and your destiny sounds daunting at first but is really fantastic when you get in to it
Haha. Yes I agree with all 10!
I love the freedom of freelancing.
Really Cool Post… Yeah you are right… there is nothing better than being free without a yelling Boss on your back…
From the mouth of babes… “Because I can”
I’m in my undies now! Friday is a whole new ‘ball game’.
lol…excellent. I loved no. 8 – so true!
I’m a freelancer for a month now and all I can say is.. IT’S WONDERFUL TO BE FREE!

Number 2 is sooo true.

I love #2
Love the ten list! all true & funny, However, being a freelance designer is not easy, nor does the work just fall into your lap. Yes I like the steady paycheck & health insurance. So why quit? The only reason would be for something better.
Is working freelance better? mmm I’m not so sure. but at least it is a last result, or an option.
I quit my job a year ago and haven’t looked back. Well, I still got to the old job to get gas and they let me hang my banner for Guerilla Grafix on their property. That last line on the list says it all. Good sht.
