Business Card Tricks to Delight and Annoy Clients
Remember when you were a kid and your Uncle kept making a quarter disappear and then he pulled it out of your ear? Pretty annoying, huh?
Well, maybe it was cool the first time he did it, but after the 10th time you were probably thinking “Give me the dang quarter already!”
So here are a few business card tricks you can try out on clients to delight them or annoy them with your amazing slight of hand!
Print out your card trick
This is a slick little trick to make it appear that you’re printing out your business card with your hand. A bit of fancy hand work makes it appear that your business card is completely blank.
The only downside I see to this trick, is how many designers do you know who would keep their business card completely blank on one side?
Make your card disappear
This one takes a little bit of skill and the right type of business card. I imagine cheapy cards you bought for $5 for 5000 cards would probably work best, since you need a bit of flex in the card to make it work correctly.
If you are fortunate, clients will show you how they make your business card disappear simply by using a flick of the wrist and a rubbish bin.
The one finger quarter trick
We’ve probably all been in this situation before. We’ve been doing shots with a client and we’ve run out of cool things to talk about. He’re a super simple trick for wowing your client with your amazing ability to flick things.
By they way, see if you can get to the end of the video without wanting to punch the magician in the face.
Levitating card trick
This trick requires a little bit of setup but it comes off looking pretty cool. Just make sure you don’t hand the client your “trick” card by accident.
Or, go ahead and give your client the trick card. And when he says “Ahhh I see how you did it”, slap him across the face for revealing “magician’s secrets.”
Select a card trick
This is a very simple trick that requires a tiny bit of setup. When you see how it’s done, you’ll feel like you want those 53 seconds of your life back.
Suspenders and clown pants are optional.
Conclusion
I think we’ve all learned a very valuable lesson by watching these examples of business card magic – never let your daughter marry a magician. What a bunch of weirdos.

Very Entertaining.
“(…) how many designers do you know who would keep their business card completely blank on one side?”
Easy answer:
Any designer with at least half a brain. A white / blank side is the best for noting down additional info in the moment of giving over your card, like your personal phone number, some info of what you were talking about, maybe the URL of your hosting partner – the possibilities are unlimitied!

Hahahahahaha, I nearly died when I read your comment. It shouldn’t be that funny, I don’t think. It was, thank you.
LOL, BTW fwolf you can use CSS3 for radial gradient on you site’s background. Cheers!
background: -moz-radial-gradient(center 45deg, circle closest-corner, #1a82f7 0%, #2F2727 100%);
background: -webkit-gradient(radial, center center, 0, center center, 70, from(#1a82f7), to(#2F2727));
lol =].
I’ll keep these in mind on my next job interview… and I’m curious what the HR manager will feel about my antics. Perhaps, I’ll just make my resume levitate as well or do a ‘disappearing act’ before he/she got the time to say ‘No’… haha.. nice tricks, thanks!
Wah wah wah…
I kind of like the last one
LOL, some of these are entertaining. I’ll have to give them a go
I use magic to entertain my client from time to time. Just for fun. They come for my design services, but it is cool to use some “magic” to build rapport. Thanks a lot for this review. You extended my range of possibilities
