Server Issues on the Weekend

Over the weekend and into Monday we unfortunately experienced some pretty severe downtime on all Envato WordPress blogs and here on the FreelanceSwitch Forums. The downtime was due to problems in the data centre of our current hosting company which was out of our control.

It seems to all be resolved now, but I just wanted to make a quick apology for the inconvenience and interruptions. We’re going to be re-examining our hosting setup to make sure we avoid this situation in the future and to generally try to pull up the quality of service across the board.

In the meantime there may be some further minor interruptions as we shore up the setup. Thank you for your patience!

Sorry to ask this here, but I can’t find their email…. would you know if Workflow Freelance is having the same problem? You both had the same errors when I was trying to access the sites.

Huh, Westhost had a significant outage over the weekend too. Are you with them?

I recently started following your blog for marketing and promotion tips, so I was surprised to see a post that so directly relates to what I do.

At my company, we’ve been searching for the right mantra to really take us to the next level. Along those lines, we’ve basically decided that technology should never be a road block to our client’s success.

Along these lines, I’ve been trying to reach out to users of various hosting services and find out how issues like downtime really impact their businesses.

So if you don’t mind sharing, I would like to know how did this impact your business? Did posts get delayed, was it now a big deal, was revenue lost?

I think too many hosting companies fail in this regard. We throw the technology out there and never really stop to ask how it is used.
