I’m from Leeds, so chances are I’ll be attending, Sounds good thanks for the update :)

  2. PG Gareth Hodson

Hmmm, sounds good. This is the closest anything of this kind has been to me so I’m certaoinly considering. Cheers.

  3. PG ben gribbin

I live near Leeds and will consider going, it sounds great

  4. PG RedRock

    £150, what a rip off… Pass!

  5. PG Stephanie Booth

Anthony, Gareth, Ben: I hope you decide to come! If you do, be sure to register pretty soon to try and grab one of the handful of bird tickets left.

RedRock: I’m the organiser of this event, and I’m aware it may seem pricey at first view. We’ve strived to keep this event affordable, knowing that freelancers often have limited “extras” in terms of funds. However, those funds from the registrations allow us to put together a really high-quality programme and fly in speakers who know what they’re talking about.

I thought hard about whether I would pay for an event like this myself, and that resulted in a post: http://going-solo.net/2008/02/11/pricing-how-much-will-going-solo-cost/ — you may want to have a look at it, the points there are still valid though the pricing structure is slightly different for Leeds.

I suggest that you think of the entry fee as an investment. One of the discussion points that surfaced at the last Going Solo in Lausanne was that successful freelancers (ie, those who make their freelance careers financially viable) are those who know how to network and manage the business side of their work well. I assure you that the connections you make at Going Solo (and the experiences you exchange with others) will give you a return that’s greater than registration price.

  6. PG RedRock

Sorry Stephanie, I’m still not convinced with the price.
Most of programme’s stuff I’ve already found (in other bloggers & Freelance Switch articles) or learnt (during Uni courses and discussed with other Freelancers) and put them into live.
Sounds nice for somebody who is thinking about going freelance or just started.

Hope you’ll get audience you’re expecting to have. Wish you all best.
