Blog Action Day 2007
Today is the launch of Blog Action Day! Blog Action Day is an initiative of Collis (our design guru) and Leo (our productivity guru). They are asking bloggers around the world to unite on October 15th, 2007 to post about the environment. They believe, as I do, that if all bloggers write about one subject for one day we could raise global awareness and effect positive change.
We’ll be taking part, and I hope if you’re a blogger you’ll take part too! If you’re not a blogger and want to help there are many ways you can support Blog Action Day, so please take the time to check out the site.
So far Blog Action Day has signed up 35 of the best and brightest blogs, 4 top-100 blogs, and will have a reach of over 630,000 readers on the day. Reddit will also be changing their logo on the day to support the Blog Action Day cause.
Blog Action Day will be a yearly event, and each year will focus on a different issue. The beautiful thing about it is that bloggers can make an issue relevant to their readers. This year your favourite blogs will be discussing the environment in relation to your own interests, which will help make the issues of the environment relevant to every reader.
We’re very excited about this over here, so expect to be hearing more about it in the lead up to the day!
And here is a little promo video for Blog Action Day to whet your appetite…

I’ll be taking part, too! ;o) Hope to see a lot more bloggers in this project.
This is a great idea. Whether your blog is about celebs or gadgets, there’s no need to go too off topic. Relate the post to any environmental issue that is important to you.
BlogActionDay.org says it well,
“A blog about money might write about how to save around the home by using environmentally friendly ideas. Similarly a blog about politics might examine what weight environmental policy holds in the political arena.”
No excuses not to do this… this is the only planet we have. I signed up.
Great news! Good luck with the project. I’ll be there with you

Great!
I have joined, but I don’t see my listings.

That’s a really good idea, considering blogs are reaching such a wide audience (and growing by the day). While I doubt my little blog is in the top 1,000,000 I will definitely participate!
Count me in! Something about social media bringing positive change to our world makes my fingers itchy to write.
I will also be participating! In fact, I think I will blog about the environment for a week, leading up to Blog Action Day because the environment is too important and deserves to be given more than a day, LOL.
But right now I’m checking out fellow participants’ blogs and I’m enjoying myself subscribing to a lot of new blogs!
Great idea!
Count me in 100%. I’ll make an illustration to pair it with — Cilantrobot definitely supports the environment.
I’ll be taking part in it too.
It’s a great idea!
We are participating as well, and look forward to it!
Blog Action Day!
My message for all is: “Safeguard and Improve Your Environment”
http://spiritualbeing.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/safeguard-and-improve-your-environment-the-way-to-happiness/
My blog action is a tribute to the environment…with animated clips, music videos, award-winning short documentaries, newsbites from leading conservationists from around the Globe, and reviews of films like DiCaprio’s 11th hour.
Check it out!
