Really good ideas! I totally agree with the higher comments part. I have seen that when I talk about things first, I invariably get a higher number of comments and higher engagement. Also, I think the people who come first to such news are enthusiasts like myself, so I get a better quality traffic. This of course weaves into your point of getting new audience, but I would also argue that the quality of these audiences is higher and blogs need to value them higher. Interesting.
