This is so familiar!
I’m going for the second year as dad freelancer, now with two kids, and now all of the above are correct. Except for the falling asleep, not willing to kill myself with the lack of sleep, not worth it, and I’m way more productive when I sleep well.
Kids are the best, but they can be exhausting.

Oh, yes…jiggling a crying baby on one knee while trying to finish a design job with one hand, know this well…ever tried using illustrator with only one hand? You learn new poses of contortion!
Well, try to use 3ds max with a cheap pen tablet (the mouse have an annoying click for my baby), only with the on-screen keyboard, and the baby in the other hand, slightly jiggling

The key to getting drool out of keyboards is letting them dry out for a couple of days afterwards. Just keep a couple of spares around at all times!

Actually the surprising thing is that having a new kid will help you concentrate better, long term, because every hour or two you get to take a break from whatever you’re doing and let your mind relax, wander, etc, and you come back refreshed. This is usually about the time that I have a good idea- right as I’m putting the tyke down to sleep again.

Congrats for the 150! Will there be a time when we can buy this amazing comic on a paper book? Really hope so! Would be a GREAT gift for ANY freelance designer (like me! -also a happy dad-)! uhrrmmmm… sounds like it happens naturally when we get to that kind of stage and maturity. Nothing to be ashamed of.. just a few shortcomings maybe.
