N.C. Winters is always drawing. When he isn't making comics, doodling or working as a freelance graphic artist, he spends his time painting pretty pictures for galleries from his home studio in sunny southern California.
“Procrastination” kind of sounds like a religion from a phonetic standpoint. I mean… it certainly has many followers!
Can’t they make something like a quit smoke patch or a diet? Starting from today: I will get off my ass. I will get off my ass. I will! Will I?
I’m guilty of this as well. Just today I was thinking, “I could work on that stack of projects that have been collecting dust since before Christmas, or I could get on XBox and shoot some zombies…”
Today the zombies won (erm, or lost, really).
I feel pretty overwhelmed when projects build up, and then I don’t want to start anywhere because it all looks so impossible. So things pile up higher, which makes me want to do even less. It’s a horrible circle.
I’m a big believer in the “try it for five minutes” trick (although I don’t remember who came up with it). I’ll sit down for five minutes and make an effort to answer one email or write one piece of code, and before I know it I’ve been working for 5 hours.
I think this year my resolution will be to mark one thing off my To-Do list every day. Maybe that’ll quiet my inner zombie-killer and allow me to be a little more focused.
Thankfully I’m still in the too-new-to-freelancing-to-be-anything-other-than-enthusastic stage. If I’ve got a job to do I’ll dive in with abandon.
Unfortunately I take it a bit too far and have around 5 half-finished personal projects at any one time because I tend to start them without actually considering whether I’ll have time.
SO TRUE!
Procrastination isn’t helping when working full-time and trying to make a freelance ‘hobby’ a profitable reality.

Procrastination has slowed or stopped a lot of people in 2009. Hopefully, twenty Ten will be better for them!
I also tend to suffer from procrastination, but it’s also a resolution to work on for me. Wish me luck and good luck to those as well!
lol @ Matei.
