N.C. Winters is always drawing. When he isn't making comics, doodling or working as a freelance graphic artist, he spends his time painting pretty pictures for galleries from his home studio in sunny southern California.
I’m now asking: Can I be the first Portugues translator to Freelance Freedom strips? I’m going to publish ‘em on my blog, to lots and lots of freelance designers im connected to.
Same way this strips represent my professional life, it does with theirs too.
Loved this one. Not all the clients say the last words, but I’m PRETTY SURE that’s what they’re thinking.
It’s sad all right…
But at the end of the day it’s what puts the food on the table and the kids at school, right?
Just be sure never to say “Open Source” or “Freeware” in front of the client.
That sums up my current job. I am a photoshop puppet, and I create what is dictated to me by a person that has no knowledge of design. Sometimes it is funny, but usually I want to jam my Wacom pen in my eye.
This definitely hits it right on the head. People point to a design and say “I want that!”
Why not hire the designer/ web company that actually did it?
yes, i’m in both the positions. as marketing man i often give many ideas to the graphics… in my second job, as graphic, i often receive a lot of infos by the customer… LOL!
Mike you must be pretty green in the design arena to have never experienced this. It will happen some day. When you least expect it. After you have your presentation put together, and you have a reason for all your choices you will come in, sit down and throw it all away when some kid hands you a sketch. Sometimes these are little blessings.
Well done, gave me a real laugh!
:-B, yeah, thats is it often …
Lol…this perfectly illustrates what happens many times…
Sad but true…….
They forgot the part about the fact that the boss’ 15 year old son drew the sketch!!!
sad to say .. but that has happened to me
I can’t tell you the amount of times that has happened to me…
HA! been there, done that
I will say it once again:
Been there, done that!
I really like your works! Love this one!
That’s it, Winters.

Yes, this can often be the situation.

Yeah, lol never metion “Gimp” or “Inkscape” in front of a client, not that they could figure out how to use them… lol great comic.
Haha, classic. It’s either that or “I’d do it myself, but I just don’t have time.”
I like these jobs, it helps keeps my insanity and lets me focus on stuff that I actually enjoy
That was fantastic…
People really are cunning…. !!!!!
