@ Leslie: The policy I’ve been following is to accept any job that seems genuine and high quality. Sometimes the job might be a permanent position, but I figure a freelancer who is determined to remain a Free Agent just won’t apply for these! Considering about 95% of job ads posted are clearly freelance I figure it’s OK to let a few options through for someone who might be interested in permanent work. After all, the freelancers are paying to use the service so it can’t hurt to give them a wide range of options :).

Just to give you an idea regards photography and recruiters. Since most photographers have an online portfolio, and briefs can be sent via email or discussed via skype, anyone can apply.

I recently did a food shoot in my kitchen, for an overseas print magazine. The art director had emailed the exact brief. I shot up to 4 options for her to select from, and uploaded the images to her site.

I’m subscribed too, and it has paid for itself within two weeks.

However, lately some jobs have cropped up that aren’t freelance jobs at all, but offer treadmill positions in the game development industry.

It would be good to enforce the policy here. I mean, an ad for a few months of exclusive contract work might still fit, but these guys seem to be looking for someone to become a permanent part of their company.

Hi Karyl, we do have some illustration jobs. You can actually see the jobs listed without subscribing, it’s just the contact details that are hidden. So I would suggest just keeping an eye on them and if you see something worth applying for then you can always join then.

@Crazy wabbit: Job posters are able to go in and close their jobs. I’m not sure if many of them do, so generally you have a much better shot at going for jobs that are only a few days old (in my opinion).

@me: Photographic jobs are a good idea actually. I’ll ask Collis about it!
