N.C. Winters is always drawing. When he isn't making comics, doodling or working as a freelance graphic artist, he spends his time painting pretty pictures for galleries from his home studio in sunny southern California.
LOL, The Designer should always talk to someone on same level for matching their wavelengths….. else everything just flying over the heads Like the example here !!
I always get the hint when I actually look at the person across the table and see the blank stare or glazed over eyes. I just start laughing as most people think we just push buttons all day to make things happen. My mom is the only one who actually asks questions about what I’m talking about!
Thank goodness for design blogs where we can “talk” about this stuff.
I gave up trying to explain to people, outside the graphics business, what I do. I just tell them I work with designers and that seems to make sense to most.
Of course once you tell someone you work on a computer they start asking a hundred questions on how to fix their home computer. I usually just tell them I only know MACs and that gets me out of most “free” computer repair work.
I can so relate to this, you do the spill about how “work is going” and then you look and see the blankest face imaginable, followed by “yeah thats great”
This is why having design geeks like yourself is essential.
Love it!
This is so true! My friends rarely have a clue what I’m saying.
Most people know what Fonts are, but very few can tolerate when I talk about Kerning Pairs.

Fantasic! I always find myself in this situation but it tends to be me who gets frustrated with the people that don’t understand more often than not!
This is so right! I’ve experienced this before.
Gosh! Are we so geek??!!! (yes… we are… ^___^ )
ROFL
Happens to me everyday
LOL.. it happens.. sometimes.. but i try to make it happen as rarely as possible.
I don’t wanna be a boring guy..!
Thought it was kind of lame…
Haha, I guess that’s a downside to freelancing…you can’t really talk to non-web savvy people about it.
It is damn realistic
I almost never talk those thing with friends – they would understand nothing and start laughing
Nice done!

I LOL’d when I saw this in my feed reader.
nice one
khe khe khe. felt same way some times
Ha-ha-ha! This is funny! And very true!
Haha, I feel the same way. I don’t even bother explaining anymore.

Heh heh, I’ve bitched to my girlfriend so much that she actually understands most of it now
Reminds me of every time I talk to my girlfriend (about coding that is)
considering that I just started on my GD major, i’m just happy that I understand what he was talking about
wait, how can your os fonts affects css styles? technically you’re restricted a fonts that exist across all browsers and operating systems.
oh wait… did anyone one understand that…
