Essential Reading for Writers (and Novices Like Me!)
Collis Ta'eedIt’s been about a year since I began blogging, and during that time I’ve started paying a lot more attention to writing. Not so much that I have gotten any good at it, mind, just enough to realise what an art it is.
Write To Done
Fortunately there are some good places on the web to help improve your writing skills. In particular, Leo of ZenHabits has launched overnight a new site called WriteToDone aimed at sharpening your technique.
He’s had a few great posts already:
- Edit to Done: Revision and the Art of Being Concise
- How to Write First Thing in The Morning
- Short Stories: The Art of the Start
- Writer’s Dilemma: Your Art vs. Paying the Bills
- What Makes Great Blogwriting?
And knowing Leo, this is just the beginning of a steady flow of good material. So do yourself a favour, pay him a visit at WriteToDone.
Other Great Reading For Writers
Two other great blogs for writers that I try to keep track of include the prodigious CopyBlogger and ever consistent Daily Writing Tips.
Doubtless there are plenty more, if you have any favourites, leave a comment so I can add them to my daily visits!

James Chartrand - Web Content Writer Tips

I’ll chime in with my blog, Web Content Writer Tips, which is a great place for both rookies and seasoned vets to get some insight, a different perspective, tips and tricks and advice on freelance writing business online.
I’m also enjoying Freelance Folder and Remarkablogger these days, too, so there’s a vote for Jon and Michael!

I’ll second all three recommendations James gave and add one more, Scribbles & Words - Helping freelance writers, bloggers and artistic souls create a financially independent life through the web.

I’m sure you can’t be that at writing, or I wouldn’t have subscribed to you. It is hard though isn’t it? I thought I’d written something bloody brilliant last night, until I read it out loud and it just didn’t flow at all.

I’ll plug my http://www.freelancewrite.about.com site. I just posted an article: “How To Make Freelancing Your Full Time Job”
Ok, and I LOVE that graphic. Who is the genius on that one?

Well, since everyone else is doing it too, perhaps I can suggest readers might find my blog, Bad Language interesting. It’s about writing - I’m a professional copywriter for companies like Microsoft, eBay and Hewlett-Packard - and there’s a lot of information on the site (I’ve been writing it for two years). -plug

*SHAMELESS PLUGGING*
It’s less an “articles on writing” resource (currently), but it’s a great community of writers/readers/poets. There’s certainly a fiction leaning to the community but we’ve also got some non-fiction writers and bloggers out there as well. Writer’s Digest has even put us in their top 101 websites for writers for the last four years.
